Cabinet Material in Laundry Rooms

Laundry Room Cabinetry

The cabinets in your laundry room should be as durable, functional and attractive as those in your kitchen. Rather than skimp on the quality of these cabinets, why not consider using wood in laundry rooms over laminates and veneers? You’ll create a more elegant look for your laundry room, and could even increase the overall value of your home at the same time.
Wood is more durable than laminate or veneer, which is why it is preferred for laundry rooms. These areas are prone to high moisture and humidity levels, and this could wreak havoc on laminated wood or veneer. These materials are likely to crack, or the glue that holds them together might loosen. These things are not a problem with natural wood, as it can withstand humidity and moisture without warping or cracking.
Marble or granite countertops are good choices for laundry rooms because they are rugged and durable. Even so, they are somewhat heavier than fiberglass or wooden countertops are. Laminated or wooden cabinets might not be heavy enough to hold the additional weight, which would rule out the possibility of them being used there. Wood is heavier than laminate or veneer, which makes it the perfect complement to granite or marble counters.
Utility rooms can sometimes take on a rather industrial appearance that can be softened with the use of real wood cabinets. There’s also a larger selection of tones available to match any décor. Light oak cabinets can help lighten up a small space, while cherry cabinets could give this room a more elegant appearance.
You could also choose a species that draws out the color of your washer and dryer. For example, red oak might work well with red appliances, while a pine or golden oak would offset gold or tan-colored equipment.
Wooden cabinets are not just for the kitchen, as there are plenty of reasons to consider them in the laundry room as well. To find out more about the styles we have available, contact us today.
