Better design for a new home.

Victoria Devine contacted us, looking for a quote for cabinets in her new home. She wasn’t really sure exactly what she wanted, but here’s what she did know:

• The design needed to be fairly simple and easy to decorate
• The kitchen needed to flow better than the old kitchen
• The kitchen needed to better accommodate guests and family when they gathered
• The bathroom cabinets needed to be suitable for a range of heights in the family, from short to tall

With those requirements, we assigned one of our own designers to work with the Devines to design their dream home.

First off, we had Victoria start saving pictures of designs she loved and designs she hated. We quickly figured out that she loved clean, contemporary designs because of the simple lines and open canvas nature that makes it easy to decorate throughout the year.

Second, we asked about the problems with the old kitchen. Victoria told us about how everyone tends to gather between the island and the stove when they get together for the holidays. Despite having the entire house, everyone wants to gather in that one spot. So, we moved the island a little bit further away than we normally would.

Third, we helped her with all the little details that go into a custom cabinet design- how many drawers vs cupboards, designing a good kitchen work triangle, selecting styles and finishes, and picking which cabinet accessories would be most useful for her baking and cooking needs.

Finally, we just helped to keep the project on track. When you’re constructing a brand new home with custom cabinets throughout the entire house, there are a million little details to keep straight, so we did everything we could to simplify the process and keep things running smoothly.
