"This kitchen is part of a large renovation and addition to a 1920's home. The only part of the kitchen to remain was the location of the corner windows at the prep sink. The homeowners respected the age of the home and wanted all the new fixtures and furnishings to reflect its character.

We decided on an inset door with the hinges exposed. To give the kitchen extra appeal, the finish of the island is a stained cherry to contrast the linen / antique painted finish on maple for the main body of the cabinetry. Oil rubbed bronze hardware and decorative grille doors on either side of the cook top added another dimension in keeping with the age of the home. Cabinets are to the ceiling with a simple three step crown.

The homeowners have three young children and wanted all appliances out of reach of busy little hands. There are two appliance garages: one for the toaster and coffee maker and the other for the microwave oven. The TV is on a swivel platform behind doors for easy access. There are panels for both the dishwasher and refrigerator. A decorative toe kick gives extra dimension to the cook top cabinet.

To enhance the beauty of the kitchen we selected architectural woodcarvings from Enkeboll Designs. An onlay is added to adorn the hood. Corbels and molding held define and embellish the island.

This is an appealing and comfortable design that will stand the test of time. The kitchen will age with its beauty as the house has over the past 90 years."
