Caring for your Cabinetry

Cabinet Cleaning

We’ll take care of creating your dream cabinets, however you will still need to make sure they look great for years to come!

When properly maintained and cared for, the beauty of your new luxury cabinets can be enjoyed for generations. Safeguarding the woodwork on your custom cabinets is a simple and straightforward process requiring basic care techniques.

Conversion varnish is the most commonly used finish in high end furniture and custom cabinet production. This type of varnish provides excellent resistance to food and beverages, as well as common household chemicals. However, in order to maintain the beautiful appearance a few guidelines must be followed:

To clean any surface, use a damp, soft cloth with warm water and a mild detergent. Gently wipe and clean surface areas; when finished, wipe dry with a soft cloth. Avoid using harsh cleaners that may contain ammonia, bleach or other abrasive chemicals.

Do not place damp newspapers, magazines, or plastic bags on the countertop surface. Inks and dye may penetrate the finish when moist.

If you wish to polish your cabinets, use only a high quality non-wax furniture polish. Avoid excessive waxing as built up can occur and cause the moisture from a can or glass to leave a milky white ring on the surface of the wood.

After installation, most reputable cabinet makers will provide you with a touch up kit for any future scratches or nicks. Additionally, they may provide you with a bottle of polish to keep your cabinets looking their best.

Over time, direct sunlight, dirt, and other elements may affect the appearance your finish. So it’s best to properly maintain your cabinets throughout the years to avoid discoloration and other blemishes.

I would use granite cabinet knobs that match the granite countertops.
